What is Biktarvy and what is it used for:

Biktarvy is a combination medication used to treat human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection in adults. It contains three active ingredients: bictegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide. Bictegravir is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor that prevents the virus from multiplying. Emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors that work together to prevent the virus from replicating.

Biktarvy is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults who have never received treatment for HIV-1 or who are replacing their current HIV-1 medication regimen. It is not a cure for HIV-1 infection and does not prevent the transmission of HIV-1 to others.

How to take Biktarvy:

Biktarvy is taken orally, usually once daily, with or without food. It is important to take Biktarvy as prescribed and not to miss doses. Do not stop taking Biktarvy without consulting your doctor, as stopping medication can cause the virus to become resistant to treatment.
