Common Side Effects: Headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, joint pain, muscle pain, respiratory infections, sinusitis, sore throat, cough, back pain, dizziness, fatigue, menstrual problems, increased blood pressure, increased blood sugar levels.
Serious Side Effects: Allergic reactions, vision changes, severe stomach pain, bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood, signs of infection, mood changes, unusual tiredness or weakness, slow wound healing, swelling in the ankles or feet, increased thirst or urination, seizures.
Notes: Budesonide EC is used to treat mild-to-moderate Crohn’s disease affecting the small intestine and right colon. It is not effective for treating Crohn’s disease affecting the left colon or rectum. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed. Avoid grapefruit juice while taking this medication.
