What is Complera and what is it used for:
Complera is a prescription medication used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults who have never taken HIV medicines before or to replace their current HIV medicines for those who are virally suppressed (have an undetectable viral load) on a stable antiretroviral regimen for at least 6 months with no history of treatment failure and no known substitutions associated with resistance to the individual components of Complera.
Complera is a fixed-dose combination medication containing three active ingredients: emtricitabine, rilpivirine, and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and rilpivirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI). They work by blocking the replication of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
