Uses: Repaglinide is used to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is used along with a proper diet and exercise program to help lower blood sugar levels in people who cannot control their blood sugar levels by diet and exercise alone.

How it works: Repaglinide works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, which helps to lower blood sugar levels. It is a rapid-acting insulin secretagogue that binds to the ATP-dependent potassium channel on the pancreatic beta cell, closing the channel and depolarizing the beta cell membrane, which leads to insulin secretion.

Dosage: The usual starting dose of Repaglinide is 0.5 mg taken orally before meals. The maximum recommended dose is 4 mg taken orally before meals.

Side effects: The most common side effects of Repaglinide include hypoglycemia, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, headache, and dizziness. Other side effects may include back pain, joint pain, and flu-like symptoms.

Warnings: Repaglinide should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. It should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney problems, as well as those who are elderly or have adrenal or pituitary gland problems. Repaglinide may cause hypoglycemia, so patients should be advised to monitor their blood sugar levels closely and to be cautious when driving or operating machinery.
